About this event

Intrigued by the art of shibori dyeing?

Drawn to the beautiful blue colorways of indigo dye?

In this workshop, you’ll explore the process of shibori dyeing, an ancient Japanese technique. We’ll practice a few different binding techniques and then you’ll try your hand at it: dyeing your own set of oversized cloth napkins.

Feel free to bring ONE additional small white item to dye as well - upcycle an old t-shirt, dish towel, pillow case or table runner! This dyeing technique only works on natural fabric - must be 100% cotton, linen or silk. Avoid bringing bigger, bulky items as we’ll be working with small vats.

About the Instructor

Chrissy Galetto is a self-taught textile artist living in Long Beach, CA. Needing a creative outlet outside of her corporate PR job, she started Casual Magic in 2017 by making jewelry, growing things slowly and expanding into textiles and wall art as she fell in love with the art of Shibori and the process of natural dyeing.

Inspired by nature, natural materials and her favorite destinations around the globe, Chrissy's line of home goods and wardrobe staples embrace intricate pattern play balanced with simple colorways. Follow her on Instagram @CasualMagicCo
